Always warms the heart to see some crazy homegrown talent. Basically this dude sculptor uses old phone books (also ecology reinvention, very hip, very now) to carve their pages into celebrities faces. That sounds ridic basic, but don't scoff. Look below and then, gasp, like I did.
This past weekend saw the long awaited anniversary party of two of Philly's most dynamic and up-and-coming clothing brands; Animal House and Babylon Cartel. The event was hosted at Sakeya Bar & Lounge (1420 Locust St Philadelphia, Pa) which impressed me, being my first time and all. After arriving and noticing the shattered glass in the bathroom I realized I was really in for a big party... then the musical line-up begun.
Providing entertainment for the night was a slew of young, big names: -Shinobi Ninja via NYC -Asaad by way of Philly -DJ Phsh via Philly
The night was a banger to say the least. Keep up with these 2 brands to stay on-top of their scene:
I almost fainted with joy from this one from Adidas when first I laid eyes on it (a while ago, but my computer's been busted at work and I'm too damned lazy at home).
Peter, our intern who's only here until Friday (bummer) has just informed me that if you say "Adi Jedi" at the counters of Adidas original stores, you can actually get 15% off. Holy Darth Vadar, Batman!!! However, if this isn't true, Peter goes to Ithaca, take it up with him!
This one, well, I kinda just like the music. Also, Diesel is saying that brilliant ideas come from stupid thoughts, or something like that. Apparently, if you have a video of you doing something stupid, you should upload on their website. And, I am a serious fan of stupid, mindless shit. So, all of you erudite motherfuck@$@ can just kiss my non diesel wearing butt! (p.s. erudite is a smart word). heh.
two.one.five friends, family, friends and amateur strippers a-like came out Sunday to "Cheerleaders" to check out half naked chica's sashay up and down and all around the greased up poles. Mag fans became stripper fans, stripper fans became mag fans (if they weren't already) and came together in the warmest of welcomes. Dj's, socialites, and brand reps came out to judge the girls booty shaking abilities and voted one girl the queen of the pole, presenting her with the $500 grand prize, not to mention bragging rights and an appearance at the next amateur battle. Stay tuned...
This past Friday, Heineken, Dunks, and rappers galore invaded the second floor at Ubiq of Walnut. Clipse fans sipped free Heineken and Heineken Light and jammed to DJ Ambush who bumped beats from Hi-Tek to Dilla . Socialites, DJ’s and up and coming Mc’s sported the latest and rarest in snobby kicks and boarding gear and posed for pics with Freeway, Malice, and Pusha T.
So, if there is such a thing as a big boss in the donut world, Tim Horton, by way of Canada is crushing Dunkin Donuts (repeat, Krispy Kreme who?).
Why?
Cause they actually have donuts shaped like flowers AND munchkin type (Okay, Dunkin's big, so what?) donut holes called TIM BITS that actually come in cherry flavor (altho, admittedly, while pretty is their weakest offering, tastes just like medicine!) However, their yeast (name is ewwwww, i know) munchkins are beyond (i bring my jewish out with fried pastry), and their maple donuts actually get my wonderfully jaded and flamboyantly gay born and bred New Yorker friend to raise his incredibly cynical eyebrows in surprise and delight.
I don't think there are any stores to be found in Philly, but they seem to be making their way South via...Penn's Station underground food court. So, when you happen to be hanging out there on a Saturday night watching "Jersey Shore's" rejects get loaded on carbs before going out for a night of serious head bobbing to outdated (but timeless) free style on KTU...make sure you have a nice fat pile o donuts for the show!
So, Brit Hume's really odd diatribe about Obama needing Jesus Christ started something that I will break my fast from the F word to say is fucking nuts......

Thank you, Rashod Lewis for sending us your picture holding "Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 - Present" by Gail Buckland, the book that you won by participating in our mag survey.
Btw, this was to prove to all of you cynics that people do win our contests. THEY DO!!
